With one question, how could you find out which road leads to the city of Safety? Ask them this question, "Which way will your friend tell me to go?" The liar will lie and tell you that the truth teller would have you go the wrong way. The truth teller knows the liar would have lied and also tell you to go the wrong way. So you would go the opposite of what they tell you.
